Fishing Report

Category: Fishing Update

Now that we have had a few days of nice weather the Crappies seem to be picking up.  Guys are catching them suspended in deep water, and I have also gotten several reports of crappies in brush.  With the good weather continuing this week should be great.  The bass have started spawning with reports of both spawned out females as well as females with eggs still in them.  The perch are around but hard to target, and the bluegills are still sleeping!

The crappies had started biting pretty good, but with this cold snap they will be slowing down.  Most guys were saying that once they found active fish they were catching between 10-14 inch crappies consistently.  Once we get a few days of closer to average temps they will be picking back up.  The bass have been biting really well if you know what to use.  Spoons and Spinners seem to be key for them right now, heavily out fishing soft plastics.  Stop in and I can show you what has been working!

The Perch and Walleye are in full swing below the dams right now.  I have heard mixed results from both Blackdeers and Lytles.  This may be due to the water being lower then normal for this time of year.  There have been very few people fishing out on the lake lately, but the Northern are biting as well as the Bass. The Crappies should be picking up soon, I will post as soon as I get word that they are biting.

With the water finally warming the perch bite seems to be picking up. The water clarity on the lake is improving and we should have some good fishing soon!
